what i’m into – that’s keeping me sane {february 2018}

what i'm into. February 2018Ah, February! The month of love.  There’s Valentine’s Day on the 14th and my husband and I celebrated our 12th year wedding anniversary this week.  But oh, February, the month of cold and wet and rain.

So, what’s keeping me sane this month?

  • We have had a week of some very warm weather and sundrenched days – close to 80 degrees Fahrenheit. This makes me nervous for what spring and summer are going to be but I have so enjoyed the warmer weather.
  • The dogwood trees have started to bloom and their lacy white fingers peeking through the sea of brown and teeny bits of light green are gorgeous. Once again, afraid that they are a bit early but enjoying them anyway.
  • I have recently started writing again. In fact, I am taking a Creative Writing course at my alma mater and it really has been a life-changing experience for me.
  • Speaking of writing creatively, the next thing that is keeping me sane this month is poetry. I didn’t think I liked poetry but due to my Creative Writing class, I am realizing that I really do like it and more even more interesting is that fact that I enjoy writing it.  It is fun to try to express emotions and feelings into this art form and I have found it to be a very healing and restorative process.
  • Sims 4 – I LOVE this game. I have loved this game since its first iteration, The Sims” came out almost 18 years ago.  It is only until just recently that I have allowed myself the pleasure of playing it again and it has been wonderful.
  • And of course, it couldn’t be the month of love without my mentioning my Hubby. He’s my rock.  He’s my anchor.  I couldn’t do this life anywhere close to well without him.

As usual, I am linking up with Leigh Kramer’s What I’m Into.  There are a lot of people enjoying life over there.  Worth checking out.

fcshare-5QoIrLqNI was so thrilled and honored to have my article, Overhauling My Concentric Circle of Responsibilitypublished on Rocket City Mom earlier this month.  Take a minute (OK, maybe five; it’s rather long) to see what I planned to do this year.

“After a lifetime of believing that the voices that mattered were Out There, approving or disapproving of me, I’m learning [to listen] to trust the voice within, the voice of God’s Spirit, the whisper of my own soul.”
– Shauna Niequist, Present Over Perfect

This is keeping me sane in a very literal and real way.

What’s keeping you sane? enjoy life…

happy thanksgiving!

happy-thanksgiving-2016-greeting-ecardI know I have been a ghost on my blog for the past few months. But had to make a reappearance to highlight my annual grateful list – short, yet very meaningful one this year.

First, my favorite quote of the season…

“Given the amount of unjust suffering and unhappiness in the world, I am deeply grateful for, sometimes even perplexed by, how much misery I have been spared.” – Dennis Prager

  • I must start with my hubby of almost eleven years! Wow! Eleven years! God only knows what I’d be without this guy!
  • My family, extended included, with a special shout out (does anyone say that anymore?), to my sister, Emmi, an inspiration to me in so many ways.
  • The Buddy Man
  • My mother-in-law who has made it possible for me to pursue a career and be a mom at the same time. Can’t do it without her!
  • Runs, and nice hot showers after.
  • Books and all the knowledge, insight, and even entertainment, found therein.
  • Danielle LaPorte’s Truthbombs
  • My job, that I really enjoy!
  • Becoming a regular contributor on Rocket City Mom and the Book Club we created. Wouldn’t have happened without you, Taralyn. Thanks!
  • The Love Notes Project! Don’t know what I’m talking about; you can check it out here.
  • Two trips to beach this year complete with balcony views of the ocean. Thanks Mommy and Daddy!

Happy Thanksgiving from me and mine to you and yours!
